How do you round to the nearest hundredth?
Look at the digit in the thousandths place. If it is 5 or more, round the hundredths digit up; if it is 4 or less, keep it the same. For example, 3.14159 rounded to the nearest hundredth is 3.14.
What is banker's rounding?
Banker's rounding (round half to even) rounds a number ending in exactly 5 to the nearest even digit instead of always up. It reduces bias when rounding many numbers, so 2.5 becomes 2 and 3.5 becomes 4.
What are significant figures?
Significant figures are the meaningful digits in a number. Rounding to 3 significant figures keeps the first three significant digits - for example, 0.0045678 to 3 significant figures is 0.00457.
